I dont think the abbreviation for the stitch is put into the pattern properly, but it seems to be a Front Post Stitch (FPS) that they are calling a Front Post Double crochet (FPDc also FPdc). Front post stitches are worked by looping your hook around the front of dc's in the previous round on your project. A Back Post Stitch (BPS, BPDc, BPdc) is worked behind the dc in the previous round. Does the pattern have a dimensional line that runs the length that looks something like a knitted rib? Post stitches are used in crochet project to create texture.

I hope this helps.

What does it mean when they put brackets after the number of stitches they want you to chain. Eg: 71(81-92). I don't know what the numbers in the brackets are for. Please help I am new at doing crochet.

I am looking for an afghan crochet pattern from 20 or so years ago which was fast and thick, as 4 strands of yarn were held at one time and using a huge crochet hook. It had some rows of single crochet, some of double crochet and some rows of popcorn stitch. Does anyone happen to have this pattern? Thanks. Sarah
