Hardy;

I wanted to thank you for a great Filet Crochet class. For the very first time I understand Filet crochet! I have read the instructions on many sites and books but it was just too confusing for me.

Today you broke it down in easy to understand steps...now I've got it! I crocheted the two practice pieces and did the first five rows of the project. In fact I didn't want the fun to end so I crocheted it twice. It's amazing how much I learned in one easy lesson. There's no stopping me now! Come on lesson 2.

Thank you so much,
Sherree

Dear Hardy,

How do you pronounce "lacet"?

Is it like "lace it" with a long "a" sound? Or does it use a French/European "broad a" sound like "loss it"? Or something altogether different?

..."inquiring minds want to know"! lol...

Thanks,
Cyn

Nevermind!!!!

I figured out the search (using ALL dates) and found your answer to the same question back in Sept. '03! [http://www.hassdesign.com/Forum/read.php?6,785,808#msg-808]

Then, you said it was more like "loss it", or "loss eht". So it would seem that the word is, indeed, French?

Thanks!
Cyn
p.s. I don't know if you ever redo your lessons, but if it's not too much trouble, it would really be nice to have that pronunciation guide in lesson 1. I love your teaching materials!!!!!!

HI Cyn,

it's more like loss it. You pronounce the a la - and then a short cet pronouncing the t. I hope, that make sense.

Hardy!

Twisted thread

Howdy all,

I'm getting back into lace crochet after being away for, umm, over 30 years? (How can I be THAT old?) This seemed like a fun group to join as I'm practicing filet.

So far, so good, except I have a horrible problem with the thread getting twisted as I go. When I embroider, I just drop the needle and let the twists spin out, but dropping my work doesn't work as well. Do I have the thread upside down? Do any of you have ways of dealing with this?

Annie

I started the doily and wanted to bring it with me to an appointment but couldn't find the pattern without all the lessons. Is just the pattern available?
