I'm working on the gauge coaster. When I increase an open square at the end of the row the 2nd chain stitch (the stitch prior to the dtr) becomes very loopy by the time I complete the dtr. What is a good way to keep the tension in this chain stitch when completing the dtr?

Make sure you crochet the dtr at the end of the hook, so you don't pull the second chain so long.
