decreases looked funny at first

This was the first time I'd ever attempted increases or decreases in filet, which is why I signed up for the Little Hearts Doily.

My increases look good, at least to me, but my decreases need some work. On the first one, I think I frogged it 3 times before getting it to actually look like a square. I think I did it too tight. I was finally happy with it and moved on, but I still feel like that's a weak point for me. I know...practice, practice, practice. I will. I love filet, always have. Has anyone else had this problem with the decreases?

My doily will be a little larger, since I'm using #10 thread and a 6 hook. I didn't have any #20 on hand and have never worked with it. I look forward to using it in the future with a smaller hook. I was a little nervous before starting the lessons and wanted to use materials I felt comfortable with. Besides, this first one's for me. The next one may be a gift for my sister. She loves doilies and loves anything with hearts.

Hi Glenda,

It will take some time before all the squares look even. And it's really not important what kind of thread you use right now. It is more important you learn all the stitches and Techniques.
After finishing this Doily try to crochet it again. I am sure, it will look better already and you will be able to work much faster.

Hardy!
